Wow. Weird. Dark, yet enchanting. Definitely an uncoventional piece using unconventional instruments. I didn't know what to think of this the first times through other than it was a technically-solid song---not too much bass, even balancing of the stereo channels, a strong melody, and ...? This is the kind of piece that maintains its interest in keeping the bass simple, percussion hard but steady, fills out the empty holes with weird voice samples, and lays down a somber, waning melody that guides you though the song. It fits neatly into its own category---if not for the technical, one would either like it or hate it. I personally found it somewhat catchy, but personal preferences can't dictate an entire score. So, the points here are coming mostly from originality and technical skill. Job well done.

It sounds like somebody's been at the John Barry records. This is a good song with some very nice samples that are well used, but it does have a few things which I dislike about it. For starters, the chord progression is terrible - when the major chords come in it completely ruins the mood. The bass follows them, and it makes the whole thing sound terribly cheesy when it could have been a cool piece. I don't know why you did that as it is totally out of place. The intro is definately the best part, but there is a good middle section, and the ending with the record sound effect is pretty amusing. There are some good drum samples and great scratches in there too. Technically the song is pretty good - no big problems that I heard. This style is rather popular in the scene at the moment, but this still sounds quite fresh - the style isn't done to death like many others are. It's a little generic for the style, though. I wish you had used a better chord progression and kept the mood of the intro up, as it would have made this much better. It's pretty good as it stands, though.

Sounds like a movie soundtrack. I really like the overall atmosphere of this song. Eventually, thouhg, it began to get boring. AEHaeHAhEHEa the end is funny.... bad, but funny. (Disclaimer: Emergency Vote!)

In my opinion you could have used 8-bit samples, since your 16b samples aren't of very high quality. Mixing is good and the vinyl sounds dusty and scratchy, as it is supposed to. Song flows smoothly and the sound is good for the most part. Beat should be more groovy. Some very good ideas, but some parts sound out of place. Almost as if you didn't usually make this kind of music and your background would rear its head. Very well done track, but not such a compact whole I would expect from a veteran entrant.

hello portishead! :) very cool intro, nice bass sample, and line, as well... good panning, good drumbeats, excellent mood, downtrodden yet hopeful, and mysterious, too... very interesting ideas going here, spooky lead... i very much enjoy this piece, it's very innovative and a new use of old ideas mixed together, well tracked, well thought out, very great feel, i very much enjoy this... _GREAT_ job with the flanging! OH that tickles my ears, tracked it and all! mmm, this is a very tasty piece of music, and a -very- neat ending... whomever you are, you rock...
